The Amazing Race Recap 5/10

Author: David Niu

The next leg of The Amazing Race moves to Bangkok, all the teams end up booking an 11:00pm except B.J. Averall and Tyler MacNiven, aka the Hippies who have to beg for money and miss that flight. But, dont underestimate the Hippies luck and power of TTOW! The Hippies find another flight that actually arrives in Bangkok fifteen minutes sooner than the others.

Eric Sanchez/Jeremy Ryan, Ray Whitty/Yolanda Brown-Moore, and the Hippies arrive at a temple in Bangkok and are presented the option of a Roadblock or Fast Forward. Ray/Yolanda and the Hippies opt for the Fast Forward. Eric elects the Roadblock activity which involves duplicating, out of fruits and sweets, an elaborate offering for the temple many monkeys.

The Fast Forward task involves eating A BIG bowl of fried grasshoppers and crickets. The Hippies take the plunge while Ray/Yolanda quickly retreating to the temple.

At the temple, Eric finishes, followed by Joseph and then Yolanda.

Meanwhile, the Hippies struggle to eat the insects, retching occasionally into buckets and seriously questioning their choice of the Fast Forward.

The other three teams each find the next clue box, which gives them a Detour task. They can either Altar It (gold-leaf a Buddha statue) or Move It (transport clay pots on boards). Eric/Jeremy pick Altar It, and get started first. Ray/Yolanda, who overtook Monica Cayce/Joseph Meadows (aka MoJo), pick the same. MoJo decide to try the other task.

As the Detour gets underway, the Hippies power through their Fast Forward, and manage to clean out their bowls obugs and finish first.

Back at the Detour tasks, Eric/Jeremy complete their leafing first, followed by Ray/Yolanda. MoJo struggle with Monica losing most of her pots and her composure.

MoJo rush to the Pit Stop, but its too late. Eric/Jeremy came in second, Ray/Yolanda make it to the mat third. MoJo is last, and Phil lets them know theyve been eliminated. Monica and Joseph might have the mojo but it looks for this week at least like TTOW was the secret ingredient to The Amazing Race.
