Ceiling Fans - A Lovely Addition to Any Room

Author: Michael Russell

Ceiling fans add the final touch to almost any room in your home. What's more, by having a ceiling fan in your living room, dining room or kitchen, you may be pleasantly surprised by the benefits you derive. Finally, ceiling fans are relatively inexpensive and simple to install: within as short a time as a half-hour you can have beautifully designed ceiling fans installed in your home.

A ceiling fan in your living room gives the room an elegant appeal - one that simply screams sophistication and style. What's more, you can successfully manage the room temperature with your newly installed appliance. Ceiling fans will turn in either a clockwise or a counterclockwise direction depending on your specifications. Spinning clockwise, the fan is set to push hot air from the ceiling down into the room and can successfully help you reduce heating costs. Conversely, when set counterclockwise, the ceiling fan will effectively help cool the room as it draws the air toward the ceiling faster.

Of course, the bigger your ceiling fans are, the more control you have over your indoor climate. Likewise, in terms of size, you will want to purchase one that will suit the room you place it in. By buying a fan that is overly large for a room, it may seem overwhelming when used and it can also set the room out of proportion. Conversely, a g fan that is too small will have a diminishing affect on your climate control and sometimes it will give the ceiling fan the appearance of being "swallowed up" by the room. Thus, when purchasing ceiling fans you should keep these considerations in mind; the larger the room the bigger the fan you will require and vice versa.

For a ceiling fan to be effective at all, your ceiling should be no less than 8 to 9 feet high. Figuring that a ceiling fan can take up roughly a foot of space, this will leave your ceiling fan positioned roughly 7 feet above the floor. Any lower than that and you run the risk of taller individuals having unpleasant encounters with your ceiling fan!

Ceiling fans are designed in a variety of colors and also possess a variety of blade styles. Therefore, you should have no trouble finding a one that is perfect for almost any room in your home. In fact, you can get ceiling fans with black, white, or wood colored blades and you can even get blades with pastels or bright, festive colors if you so choose. The brighter colored fans are ideal for children's bedrooms and can serve as an eye-catching accessory. Alternatively, mild color selections for the primary rooms in your home are recommended as you don't want your ceiling fan to take away from your other dcor. Rather, ceiling fans should enhance your already existing dcor and should not appear as an unsightly obstruction in the room.
