LED Personal Lighting for Safety

Author: Lance Winslow

One of the newest technologies to enter the flashlight and personal safety lighting industry is not new at all. Electromagnetic induction, an old technology is now being used in hand-held flashlights by consumers, security professionals and government agencies and this proves to be a trend which will continue for quite some time. With battery life issue with stored flashlights, often when one is on the side of the road with a flat tire and reaches for the flashlight in the cold and dead of night, it will not work. The batteries are dead and it is too cold for them to even get a faint glow out of the flashlights high-intensity glow. By using electromagnetic induction one can shake the flashlight and then use the energy created to light up the scene.

In harsh environments one has to worry about snow blindness and safety flashlight need additional lens covers or bulbs to be of any true value. Perhaps for those who must leave their cars on the side of the road and start to walk, then need not be run over in the snow or moonless night as a red light behind and a white in front, both LED could solve this problem as well.

For those who walk at night or jog a light could be invented which was worn on ones sleeve. If the sleeve was switched around then you could use a tiny LED blue light surrounded by red light facing in front and then you would not have the white light in the rear in case of the snow blindness issue, as this might even counteract that effect? While a regular dark night the white light could face forward. The light would be powered by the human motion and bouncing of the walking or jogging to add safety to the person. If you have ideas on flashlight or safety lighting, then wont you please bring these ideas to the forefront? Think on it.
