CV Coaching Creates Winning CVs

Author: Peter Fisher

A CV Coach is not so different from any other type of coach. The aim of coaching in general is to find ways of turning potential into reality and often involves working with the belief systems and confidence of the individual.

Consider the tennis coach: by watching what the player does and how the player moves, the coach can suggest new moves and actions. By observing the players moods and self-talk, the coach can identify whether the player is self-defeating or self-supporting and institute any changes over a period of time.

A CV Coach will work with you to identify your most saleable and relevant skills and attributes and then use carefully chosen language to represent you on paper or by electronic means. This may mean some changes to the way you see yourself but the coach will be working in your best interest to help you achieve the success and results that you desire.

Many people struggle to write effectively about themselves because:

  • They think it is not the done thing and experience should speak for itself;
  • They think it is outright bragging;
  • They simply dont have the language and vocabulary to express them well.

A CV Coach can help to overcome all these drawbacks by demonstrating how effective the approach can be and by suggesting words and phrases that bring the CV or Resume to life and imbue it with personality.

What you need is a CV Coach who is capable of not only understanding what your job or role is all about, but also empathising with your dreams and aspirations for a new job or career. The coach must know how to present your skills and experience positively, both for the present and the future.

In recent years, coaching has become one of the most effective ways to cultivate the professional and personal skill-sets of teams and individuals. Coaching has shown time and again to have proven results and this is why up to 40% of Fortune 500 companies hire coaches to improve their businesses.

You can take advantage of the proven reliability of coaching to get the best out of your CV or Resume presentation.

For coaching to work, the coach needs to understand how to get the best from you and for you to place your trust in the coachs methods. What you are looking for is a CV Coach who has experience of writing effective CVs and Resumes and who will guide you through the process of preparing your own CV to the highest standards. Look for examples of the CV Coachs work and their willingness to explain in detail why their methods will work for you.
