Build Your Own Personal Computer

Author: Robert Emler

Building your own computer is not as hard as you think. Its actually pretty simple; if you can put a square peg in a square hole you can build your own personal computer.

Lets look at what you should consider first before building your own computer. If possible you want to try and get the best technology you can afford. This is an important factor to consider because of what you want to use this computer for. When your computer is complete you want to fill confident that the computer will perform the tasks that you built it for.

Collecting the hardware for your new computer is a process in it self. You want to make sure that you get high standard quality computer parts that will serve you well. Take your time and dont try to skimp on your hardware. It is very important that you take special care in this area because you want to get a lot of life out of your computer.

Selecting a case is an important step. You have to be aware of the form factor. You want an ATX form factor because that is what almost all new systems are operating on. Try to find a screw free computer case because it will be easier to work with. Make sure that the computer case you select can mount three or more fans for cooling, because cooling is very important.

The Motherboard is the most important part of your computer. Everything that goes into your computer will go to the computers motherboard. Be especially choosy when buying a motherboard. The motherboard is the heart of your computer.

It is important to know that the motherboard dose control the future of your computer. All upgrades will have to be compatible with your motherboard. The chipset in the motherboard is something you also need to consider. What will it support? Find out if the chipset is the rite chipset for what you want to use the computer for.

Now you need to consider the processor. The average processors today are faster and they arent really that expensive. The average computer processors do access higher level applications with very little stress. They provide an ample amount of speed as well. There are also High end processors. They are some what expensive, and usually only used by those who are on the high end of the pay scale. With these you will have higher memory and no problem accessing complex computer programs.

Memory is a very important element of your computer. Spend the money and purchase the best you can afford. The better the memory is the more it helps in putting less strain on your computer processor, and it will aid in the performance of your computer.

Get a video card that suits your purposes. Consider what you want to use your computer for, and get the video card that will suit your needs. Get a good hard drive. Buy a new one, and not a used one. So to in sure you are getting the best quality.

CD-ROM drivers are cheap. It would be better just to buy a DVD player. A DVD player will play CD-ROMs and DVDs. It is a better investment.
