Increase Fuel Economy

Author: Richard Henderson

So what car do you drive? Have you seen the new commercial they keep playing that literally depicts the reasons people choose cars. When it shows each one of them in their over priced luxury vehicle, the narrator tells you the reason they chose the car. Like, they're insecure or trying to over-compensate for something else they lack. Then of course they show you the Volkswagen that's just right for anyone. While this commercial is more about image, the main issue it addresses is fuel efficiency. Lets face it with ever increasing gas prices it is a very important factor and I think we all could use a few pointers regarding how to increase fuel economy.

I have a mini van, and I would love to know how to increase it's fuel economy. The gas mileage isn't that bad but that said it would still great to increase it. Say around 65 miles to the gallon would be good enough. My town is at $3.10 a gallon now days. That stinks! I can still remember when it was 97 cents per gallon and I'm only 30 years old. What is the economy coming to? My father keeps saying that prices are supposedly going to go up as high as 8 bucks a gallon, which is about what it costs in Europe so its definitely believable. I certainly hope it won't but it doesn't look good. The sad thing is that so many people over the past couple of years have jumped on the SUV bandwagon and even the best SUV's still guzzle gas. This trend does seem to be slowing down now and its because of the price of gas. There is one way to to increase fuel economyand that is to stop driving these gas hogs. If you look at car buying trends in the UK for instance, where gas is over $9 a gallon, the sales of big cars and suv's has dropped significantly and sales of smaller cars and hybrid cars have increased. Does this spell the end forlarge engines in the US'

So following in the Brits footsteps it seems the obvious solution to increase fuel economy is to invest in a hybrid vehicle? With these innovative battery assisted cars, you can certainly decrease the gas you're burning. They are pretty simple, when you are burning gasl, a large battery is charging, then the batter takes over and you save gas. That's it. In the past however the performance of these engines was so poor that nobody wanted them. All that has changed recently however and newer and better engines are being released all the time.

For more ways on how to increase fuel economy, you can easily jump online and go searching. I think you'll find that sports cars, SUVs and gas hogs are becoming a thing of the past. More and more people are investing in economy vehicles with smaller engines. It's the wise choice to make, gas prices are not going to be dropping soon if ever!
