Truck campers may be the perfect RV solution if you are a weekend warrior who likes to head out for a quick trip to the woods for hunting or fishing. Truck campers are small, you don't need a special license to use one, and they are relatively inexpensive compared to many of the other recreational vehicle choices. It may also be a lot more comfortable than sleeping on the ground or in a tent. Some have slide outs and even kitchen and limited bathroom facilities to make them even more convenient. You can purchase truck campers as a combination unit (the truck and camper together) or you can purchase the camper separately if you already own a truck. One suggestion is to purchase the truck used and the camper new. Truck campers can be purchased for less than $10,000 and if you buy a used truck your cost may be well under $30,000. This is less than many new SUVs.

Make sure that any truck you own or are purchasing for your camper will be able to handle the added weight and also that the bed is big enough to fit the camper. Truck campers come in various sizes and you will need to make sure that yours is a good and secure fit. To put the camper in, you will need to be able to remove the tailgate or put it down so that you can slide it in.

A camper is a great, inexpensive camping option. It may not be for everyone--especially if you have more than a couple of people in your group. But, for those weekend warriors it may be the perfect fit.
